Supervision & Peer Consultation

Some areas of nutrition practice ask a great deal of us.

When eating behaviours, mental health, chronic illness, diabetes, metabolic health, bariatric surgery or GLP-1 medications intersect, there is not always a neat answer, or a clear pathway forward.

Supervision and peer consultation offer a confidential, respectful space to pause, reflect and think things through with another dietitian.

My aim is to create a space for thoughtful reflection, practical discussion and clearer-decision-making, all while keeping the person in front otf you at the centre of the work.

Clinical Supervision

A SPACE to REFLECT ON YOUR PRACTICE

Clinical supervision offers a structured, confidential space to step back from the immediate demands of clinical work and reflect on what is happening in your practice.

It is not based on an assumption that one person has all the answers, or that the supervisor will necessarily have more experience in every area of your work. You bring you own knowledge, skills, clinical experience and understanding of your clients. My role is to facilitate thoughtful reflection, ask useful questions, offer another perspective (if wanted or needed) and share my own experience where it is relevant.

Together, we can explore particular cases, clinical formulation, counselling approaches, professional boundaries, ethical questions and the challenges that arise when there is no single “right” answer.

The focus is not being told what to do. It is on creating enough space to think clearly, consider different possibilities and decide what feels most appropriate within your own professional scope and context.

Supervision may be helpful if you are:
  • Building confidence in a new or complex area of practice
  • Working with eating disorders, disordered eating or body-image concerns
  • Supporting people with diabetes, metabolic health concerns or chronic illness
  • Navigating bariatric surgery nutrition care or GLP-1 medications
  • Wanting to provide compassionate, non-stigmatising care without losing sight of medical complexity
  • Looking for a regular reflective space to support your professional development

Peer Consultation

A Collegial space

Peer consultation is a collegial, non-hierarchical space to think through a particular case, dilemma or area of clinical practice.

It can be helpful when you would value another dietitian’s perspective, want to explore different approaches, or simply need room to talk through the uncertainty that can come with complex work.

Peer consultation is not about having all the answers. It is about making space for considered discussion, practical problem-solving and professional connection.

You might bring:

  • A case that feels clinically or ethically complex
  • A question about counselling, communication or treatment planning
  • Uncertainty about how to balance different areas of a person’s health
  • A situation where current frameworks do not seem to fully fit the person in front of you
  • An area of practice you would like to develop further

Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating & Bariatric Care

I currently facilitate a peer consultation group for dietitians interested in the complex intersection of eating disorders, disordered eating and bariatric surgery.

This is a professional conversation space for clinicians who recognise that bariatric care can be both meaningful and complicated, and who would like to explore how to support people thoughtfully when eating concerns, mental health, physical health and surgical intervention overlap.

The group is designed to be respectful, clinically curious and practical. It is a place to discuss real-world complexity without relying on rigid or one-size-fits-all answers.

To support open and productive discussion, participants are asked to engage respectfully, make room for differing perspectives and avoid shaming or polarising language.

My Approach

Compassionate, evidence-informed & Practical

I bring extensive clinical experience across eating disorders, diabetes, bariatric surgery, chronic illness and metabolic health. I understand that professional growth can sometimes feel vulnerable, particularly when you are stepping into unfamiliar clinical territory or working in areas where views can be strongly held. My intention is to offer a space that feels supportive, respectful and grounded.

I value evidence-informed care, clinical curiosity and language that reduces shame. I also believe that people’s health needs are rarely simple, and that good care asks us to hold both compassion and complexity.

Is Clinical Supervision or Peer Consultation Right for You?

If you are looking for reflective supervision, would like to discuss a complex case, or are interested in the peer consultation group, I would be very happy to hear from you.
