Mentoring & Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision supports dietitians in developing reflective practice and building the clinical expertise needed to provide high-quality, safe care. Rather than offering answers, good supervision helps you think through your work deeply and draw out your own strengths.

I provide clinical supervision for dietitians at any stage of their career – early practitioners refining foundational skills, or experienced clinicians looking to strengthen their knowledge in eating behaviours, disordered eating, bariatric surgery, diabetes management, and incretin therapy (including GLP-1 RA medications). This is a confidential space where you can explore your clinical work, reflect on complex cases, and enhance the skills that matter most for your clients’ wellbeing and outcomes.

Is Clinical Supervision Right for You?

Reflecting on your professional journey, take a moment to consider these questions about your current practice:

Professional Growth

Are you seeking opportunities to develop your clinical skills and knowledge in a supportive environment?

Clinical supervision offers a dedicated space to explore new approaches, deepen your understanding, and enhance your professional capabilities through collaborative reflection and guided learning.

Support

Do you sometimes feel isolated in your practice or uncertain about complex clinical decisions?

Clinical supervision offers validation, guidance, and a trusted sounding board for navigating ethical dilemmas, challenging cases, and professional boundaries.

Sharing of Knowledge

Do you value the exchange of ideas and insights with an experienced colleague?

Clinical supervision creates a bridge between experience and innovation, allowing for meaningful knowledge transfer that enriches your practice and expands your professional toolkit.

Personal Wellbeing

Are you experiencing the impacts of complex or challenging clinical work?

Clinical supervision provides emotional support, helping you process difficult cases, manage stress, and maintain your passion for dietetic practice while preventing burnout.

What I Bring (as a Supervisor)

Compassion & Care

I value creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly discuss challenges and uncertainties. I aim to offer supervision centres on empathy and building understanding.

I recognise that vulnerability is essential for growth and that your unique professional journey shapes how you work best. I provide care and support that helps you develop confidence and thrive.

Skills & knowledge

My supervision draws on evidence-based practice, contemporary approaches to dietetic care, and real clinical experience. I've provided supervision in various practice settings, completed formal training in mentoring and preceptorship, and participated within the Dietitians' Australia mentoring program (now obsolete). I'm actively engaged in my own ongoing professional development, currently completing further clinical supervision studies and drawing on three years of experience as a supervisee with Australia & New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders (ANZAED).

These foundations in both supervision and continuous learning mean I can offer practical and thoughtful support for skill development, ethical decision-making, and translating research into your practice. I’m committed to helping you expand your clinical toolkit while honouring the unique strengths and style you bring to your work.

Reflection & Curiosity

I encourage you to develop your personal clinical style while maintaining safe, effective practice. Aligned with how I work with clients, I embrace curiosity rather than judgement.

Through thoughtful dialogue, I create space for reflective thinking about your clinical work and decision-making. This approach helps to develop clearer insights, consider situations from different angles, and build stronger confidence in your professional practice.

Clinical & Personal Experience

My 25+ years as an Accredited Practising Dietitian have given me experience across diverse clinical settings with clients presenting complex eating behaviours alongside multiple co-morbidities and nutritional challenges. I was among the early clinicians to obtain the ANZAED Eating Disorder Credential following its launch, bringing both extensive general dietetic experience and formal recognition in eating disorder care. This breadth of experience means I understand the nuances of what you navigate in your practice, and I can bring real, informed perspective to your clinical supervision.

I also come to this work as a long-term consumer of healthcare services – as someone who lives with multiple invisible chronic illnesses. This personal experience profoundly shapes how I approach client-centred care and supportive language. It’s also woven into how I think about supporting you as a clinician.
